Terms of Service

By accessing or using ExpatHavenHub (the "Platform"), you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference.

If you are accessing the Platform on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms, and references to "you" include that organisation.

If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not access or use the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform following any update to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

ExpatHavenHub is an informational platform that aggregates, analyses, and presents data to assist individuals exploring international relocation. The Platform currently offers:

• Country cost-of-living indices and detailed expense breakdowns
• Side-by-side country comparisons across cost, tax, and visa dimensions
• Visa program summaries including eligibility criteria and application overviews
• Taxation guides covering income tax bands, VAT, and treaty information
• The Expat Archetype Quiz — a personalised country recommendation tool
• Aggregated global news relevant to expats and digital nomads
• Authenticated user features including saved items, dashboard, and personal archetype history

Certain features of the Platform require you to create a registered account. By registering, you agree to:

• Provide accurate, truthful, current, and complete information during registration and keep that information up to date
• Maintain the confidentiality of your credentials and not share your password with any third party
• Immediately notify us at jboone@expathavenhub.com if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account
• Accept full responsibility for all activity conducted under your account, including activity by anyone you allow access to
• Create only one account per person — duplicate accounts may be merged or removed at our discretion

You may register using an email address and password, or via Google OAuth. If you use Google sign-in, your use of that authentication method is also subject to Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

We reserve the right to suspend, restrict, or permanently terminate any account — with or without prior notice — if we determine, in our sole discretion, that the account has violated these Terms, engaged in abusive or fraudulent behaviour, or poses a risk to the integrity or security of the Platform.

You agree to use the Platform only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. Specifically, you agree not to:

• Violate any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation
• Scrape, crawl, harvest, or systematically extract data from the Platform — whether via automated tools, scripts, bots, or manual collection — without our prior written consent
• Reproduce, distribute, or publicly display any portion of the Platform's content in any medium without express written permission
• Attempt to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems, or breach or circumvent any authentication or security measures
• Transmit or upload malicious code, viruses, trojan horses, worms, or any software designed to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorised access to any system
• Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity
• Use the Platform to transmit unsolicited communications (spam), engage in phishing, or conduct any form of fraud
• Use the Platform for any commercial purpose — including reselling data, building competing products, or benchmarking — without prior written consent from ExpatHavenHub

We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations and take appropriate action, including account suspension, permanent termination, and referral to law enforcement where warranted.

All content, features, and functionality on the Platform — including but not limited to text, data compilations, graphics, logos, user interface designs, software code, the Expat Archetype Quiz algorithm, and AI-generated content — are owned by or licensed to ExpatHavenHub and are protected by copyright, trademark, database rights, and other applicable intellectual property laws.

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable licence to access and use the Platform solely for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.

You may not, without our express prior written permission: reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, publicly perform or display, sublicense, sell, or otherwise exploit any portion of the Platform or its content.

Your data: Personal data and preferences you submit to the Platform (quiz responses, saved items, profile information) remain yours. You grant ExpatHavenHub a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to process and use that data solely to provide the service to you. This licence terminates when you delete your account.

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, EXPATHAVENHUB EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING:

• Implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement
• Any warranty that the Platform will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
• Any warranty regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or currency of any data or content on the Platform
• Any warranty that defects in the Platform will be corrected

News content is aggregated from third-party sources (including the GNews API). We are not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, or editorial positions of third-party content. Third-party links accessed from the Platform are subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL EXPATHAVENHUB, ITS AFFILIATES, DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, LICENSORS, OR SERVICE PROVIDERS BE LIABLE FOR:

• Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages
• Loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, business opportunities, or anticipated savings
• Damages or losses arising from your reliance on any information, data, or content displayed on the Platform
• Costs of substitute services or losses arising from relocation decisions made based on Platform content
• Any unauthorised access to or use of our servers or any personal data stored therein

In jurisdictions that do not permit the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Platform shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the total amounts you have paid to ExpatHavenHub in the 12 months immediately preceding the claim, or (b) USD $100.

By you: You may stop using the Platform at any time. If you have a registered account, you may request account deletion via your profile settings or by contacting us. Upon deletion, we will process erasure of your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

By us: We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the Platform at any time, with or without notice, for any reason including (but not limited to): violation of these Terms, conduct we determine to be harmful to other users or the Platform, or if we discontinue or substantially modify the service.

Effect of termination: Upon termination, your licence to use the Platform ceases immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including Sections 5 (Intellectual Property), 6 (Disclaimers), 7 (Limitation of Liability), and 9 (Governing Law) — shall survive and continue in full force.

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or the Platform shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without giving effect to any conflict of law principles that would require the application of the laws of a different jurisdiction.

Before initiating any formal legal proceeding, you agree to first contact us and make a good-faith effort to resolve the dispute informally. Most concerns can be resolved quickly this way.

If a dispute cannot be resolved informally within 30 days, it shall be resolved by binding arbitration or through the courts of competent jurisdiction in the applicable territory, as required by law. Class action waiver: you agree to resolve any disputes on an individual basis and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class action proceeding.

If any provision of these Terms is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the date of the most recent revision.

For material changes — those that significantly alter your rights, obligations, or our liability — we will notify all registered users via email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. This gives you time to review the updated Terms and, if you disagree, to delete your account before they apply.

Non-material changes (such as grammar corrections, clarifications that do not alter rights, or the addition of new features covered by existing terms) may take effect immediately upon publication without prior notice.

Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of any revision constitutes your binding acceptance of the updated Terms.
